How this independent editorial site handles information about the people who read it.

Our partner's website

See what happens when you open a page

Suppose you are in Kampala, you open this site on your phone to read our review of EightCap, and you spend a few minutes on two pages before closing the browser. In that ordinary visit, some technical information is created and stored: the pages you viewed, the approximate time of the visit, the type of device and browser you used, and a rough location derived from your network address. We use that information to understand which parts of the review readers find useful and to keep the site working properly.

That example generalises to every visit. This site is an independent editorial resource that reviews EightCap for readers in Uganda. It is not the broker, it is not affiliated with the broker, and it does not offer financial services, accounts, deposits or advice. Because we are only a publisher, the information we handle is limited to what a reader gives us or what a website automatically records.

We collect what you type into the contact form on this site, such as your message and the details you choose to include. We also collect the technical and usage data described above. We do not collect payment details, trading account details, deposit information, identity documents, or any financial records, because we never ask for them and have no reason to hold them.

Keep children out of the audience

This site is written for adults who want to read an editorial review before deciding anything for themselves. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under eighteen. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, write to us through that form and we will remove it.

Age matters here because broker reviews concern financial products that are meant for adults. We do not verify age at the door, and we do not build profiles of readers. We simply ask that anyone using the site or contacting us is old enough to do so lawfully in Uganda.

Know where the data sits and who receives it

The servers that host this site and the tools that measure its traffic may sit outside Uganda, including in other jurisdictions. That means information about your visit can be transferred to and stored in a country other than your own, where privacy rules may differ from those you are used to. Recipients are limited to the service providers that host the site, deliver its pages, measure traffic and handle messages sent through the contact form.

We share information with those providers only so they can perform those tasks for us. We never sell personal information to anyone, and we do not pass it to the broker being reviewed. We may disclose information if the law requires it or if it is needed to protect the site and its readers, but we do not hand data to advertisers or data brokers.

Some of those providers may process information on our behalf under their own terms, and we choose them with care. Where the law gives you rights over transfers, you can use the contact form on this site to ask about them.

Rely on a lawful basis for each purpose

When you send a message through the contact form, we process what you provide because we need it to answer you and because you chose to contact us. When we record technical and usage information, we rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving an editorial site, balanced against your rights. Where consent is required for a particular tool, we ask for it and you can withdraw it.

We keep information only as long as it serves the purpose for which it was collected, then delete or anonymise it. We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it to offer you financial products.

Measure traffic in aggregate

We use analytics to count visits, see which pages are read and spot technical problems. The results are aggregated measurement: numbers and trends, not profiles of named individuals. We look at how many people opened the review, how long they stayed and which device type they used, not at who they are.

Aggregated figures may be shared in internal reports or summarised publicly, but they never identify a reader. We do not combine analytics data with the contents of contact form messages, and we do not track you across other websites for advertising.

Exercise your rights through the contact form

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interest and ask us to restrict it. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

To use any of these rights, send your request through the contact form on this site and describe what you want. We will respond within a reasonable period and may ask for enough detail to find the relevant information. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the data protection authority in Uganda.

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes, and the current version will always appear on this page.
